Ultrafast laser/fibre optics expert
ABOUT LIGHTQ
The demand for AI is rapidly outgrowing the electronic hardware it runs on. At LIGHTQ, we’re building next-generation computing to unlock sustainable AI: based on light, not electrons, and grounded in ultrafast laser technology, our platform is orders of magnitude faster and far more energy-efficient. We are a team of internationally recognised scientists, proficient engineers and seasoned operators. We build in Hamburg, one of the global epicentres of ultrafast photonics.
THE ROLE
At LIGHTQ, cutting-edge technologies converge: ultrafast lasers, photonics, and electronics, creating next generation computing solutions. Working closely together with experts in integrated photonics, electronics and simulations, you will set up prototypes enabling key performance validations. You will implement state-of-the-art systems at the intersection of ultrafast optics and multi-GHz electronics. You will translate theoretical performance into real-world systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experimental set up and testing of optical and electro-optical prototype systems
- Numerical modelling to support experimental validation
- Technology exploration: Select and evaluate fibre-optical components
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Self-driven professional with completed master’s degree in physics, electrical engineering or comparable qualification
- 3+ years of experience working with experimental fibre optics
- Demonstrated track record in experimental short-pulse lasers and basic RF electronics
- Hand-on, problem solving attitude (not afraid to repair a bicycle)
- Experience fibre and/or integrated waveguide optics simulations
- Excellent English skills
- Able to match an exceptional opportunity with exceptional drive
If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in photonics, working on something that genuinely matters and thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.
